Mother Nature has thrown us a curveball this season, and it’s been quite the challenge to stay on track with our projects. We had hoped to have a few more completed by now, with golfers enjoying the course, but the snow and freezing temps have kept us on our toes.

That said, we’ve still made some great strides! The cleanup on Pacific #1 is complete, and what a transformation it’s been! The difference is night and day. Pacific #2 green is set to benefit from much better airflow and sunlight, setting the stage for some great playing conditions. To help protect the area on Pacific #1, we’ll be installing a small two-rail split-rail fence along the bank—this will help keep people safe from the dangerously slippery slope.

We’ve also made headway with the sod lift on Pacific #2 green, which has been causing a collar dam. Once the ground thaws completely, we’ll jump into action, and within a few days, the area will be designated as ground under repair, begin healing and with any luck be open for play in late April.

Our curbing projects have been a valuable learning experience. In hindsight, we should’ve protected the curbs from the weather, and we’ll be addressing that by removing and replacing some of them. Lesson learned—and we’ll do it right next time!

And here’s the exciting news you’ve all been waiting for: We’ve got some big projects approved that will truly enhance your experience when golf returns. The most notable is the expansion of our putting green, along with the addition of some new tees. Chris Young, our talented golf course designer, will be overseeing these projects. The putting green will grow by an impressive 2,200 square feet, allowing for nine flags, which will open up new challenges and fun.

There’s also a new forward tee coming to Highland #9, along with another on Pacific #7. These additions are designed to improve the pace of play and maximize your enjoyment on the course.

We’re making great progress, and we ask for your patience as we continue to shape Highland Pacific into something even better.
