Dear Esteemed HP Team Members,
Welcome to the 2023 golf season! I am so excited and proud to begin yet another season with you all to
deliver the friendliest golf experience in town for yet another summer. As you all know I am extremely
passionate about our product but am even more proud of our people. I am ecstatic about our new crop
of talent that has recently come on board and am so thankful for those of you that are returning for
another summer at Highland Pacific Golf. I am also super thankful to the core team of leaders that guide
our seasonal full, and part time staff along the path of their ‘HP journey.’ I would like to recognize our
leaders and outline how they may help you during this 2023 golf season.
Golf Course Maintenance
Geoff Sheffield, Golf Course Superintendent– Geoff can be seen any day all over the facility helping
people in every department. His knowledge of the golf course, buildings and of health and safety policy
make him a great mentor for all team members. If you have questions pertaining to the golf course, turf
conditions or anything HP email him at geoff@highlandpacificgolf.com.
Sean Valikosky, Assistant Golf Course Superintendent– Sean has extensive turf grass experience having
worked at Victoria Golf Club and Uplands Golf Club and brings a wealth of irrigation and turf grass
knowledge to Highland Pacific. Sean is currently studying at Olds College to acquire his turf grass
management degree.
Bob Flood, Senior Greens Keeper– Bob has been with Highland Pacific Golf since before day one. One of
the hardest workers you will ever see Bob has been involved with every aspect of our land, golf course
and turf development from the very start.
Dave Rowatt, Senior Greens Keeper– Dave is one of our more recent leaders joining the team in 2022
after a storied career at Victoria Golf Club. Dave has expertise in turf disease management and is the
golf course maintenance Health and Safety representative on the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
Dave McKellar, Equipment Technician- Dave McKellar comes to Highland Pacific after four decades at
Victoria Golf Club. As Highland Pacific’s new lead mechanic, he has identified several opportunities for
improvement at Highland Pacific. Dave oversees the turf equipment but also oversees golf cart repair.
Golf Operations
Callum Ashby, Director of Instruction– Callum directs the operations of the Highland Pacific Golf
Academy including programming, instruction delivery and student experience. Callum has recently
attained his Class A status through the PGA of Canada and is one of the most educated coaches in the
province.
Tyler Stene, Associate Professional/ Sales and Retail Manager– Tyler started at Highland Pacific Golf in
2017 as an Assistant Professional, spent time as Head Professional at Prince Rupert Golf Club and
returned to Highland Pacific Golf in 2021. Tytler is passionate about golf retail and will oversee retail
sales and golf shop scheduling in 2023.
Brad Simpson, Associate Professional, Junior Golf Lead– Brad is seasoned Class A golf professional and
has been our Junior Golf Lead since 2018. Brad is responsible for the programming and execution of our
junior golf program including spring and summer golf camps.
Scott Keenlyside, Associate Golf Professional, Academy Lead– Scott Keenlyside is our PGA of Canada
Lead Instructor and has had a decorated career in the golf industry. Scott is a past president of the PGA
of BC and the BC Golf Museum. His leadership and knowledge have helped our team and our golfers
over the past 12 years.
Simon Hassel, Assistant Professional, Outside Services Manager– Simon turned professional in 2021
and has brought his high standard for organization and doing the right thing to our team at Highland
Pacific Golf. This year Simon has taken on a management role in leading the Outside Service Team and
golf car fleet.
Kai Lumme, Golf Course Services Lead– Kai has been with Highland Pacific Golf since it is inception and
has provided the friendliest service and leadership at the first tee kiosk in leading the starter and golf
course monitor operation. If you have any questions or comments in regards to pace of play or on
course services visit Kai down at the first tee.
Food and Beverage
Fred Green, Director Food and Beverage– Fred has been with Highland Pacific Golf for 12 years and
prides himself in delivering good food at a reasonable price. Fred exemplifies the HP motto of ’everyone
welcome’ and he is well known to take amazing care of his staff. Fred oversees the Range Café, Banquet
services as well as the kiosk and refreshment cart food and beverage program.
Suzi Charlton, Assistant Food and Beverage Manager– Suzi started at HP in early 2022 and has made an
impact in the Café with her culinary experience and smarts. Her features, specials and soups have been
especially appreciated. Suzi works with Fred to ensure our offering is fresh daily and will continue to
look for creative ways to offer fresh ideas on the menu.
